Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 7, 2025
At meeting.cash, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information. We operate on a privacy-first principle: your meeting data stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
1. Information We Collect
What We Collect
We collect minimal data, and importantly, we distinguish between data stored locally in your browser versus data sent to our servers:
Data Stored Locally Only (Not Sent to Our Servers):
- Meeting attendee counts and hourly rates you enter
- Meeting duration and calculated costs
- Your meeting history and saved sessions
- Calculator preferences and settings
This data is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. We never receive, store, or have access to this information. It never leaves your device.
Anonymous Data We Collect via Third Parties:
- Page views and navigation patterns (Google Analytics)
- Browser type, device type, and screen resolution (Google Analytics)
- Approximate geographic location at country/city level (Google Analytics)
- Traffic sources and referral URLs (Google Analytics)
- Ad interaction data such as impressions and clicks (Google AdSense)
What We Don't Collect
We explicitly do not collect:
- Account information (no accounts exist)
- Personal identifiable information like names or email addresses
- Meeting details, attendee counts, or hourly rates
- Calculated meeting costs or history
- IP addresses (beyond what Google Analytics collects automatically)
- Precise geolocation data
Privacy First:
Your meeting data never leaves your browser. We don't track individual meeting costs, attendee counts, or any calculation details. All meeting data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage.
2. How We Use Data
The anonymous analytics data we collect is used solely for:
- Understanding usage patterns: Which pages are visited, how long users stay, which features are used
- Improving the service: Identifying bugs, performance issues, and areas for enhancement
- Aggregate statistics: Reporting metrics like "2,000+ meetings tracked" or "average cost per meeting" in aggregate form
- Ad serving: Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance
We do not use your data for targeted advertising, user profiling, or selling to third parties. We do not link analytics data to any personally identifiable information.
Try meeting.cash:
Your meeting data stays private. Free calculator, no tracking of your calculations.
Calculate Meeting Costs →3. LocalStorage Usage
meeting.cash uses browser localStorage to save your meeting state and history directly on your device. This includes:
- Current meeting attendees and rates
- Meeting timer state (running, paused, elapsed time)
- Historical meetings you've tracked
- Calculator preferences and settings
localStorage data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. It persists across browser sessions so you can return to the calculator and see your meeting history.
You have full control over this data. Clearing your browser data or localStorage will permanently erase all meeting history and preferences. We have no way to recover this data because we never receive it.
4. Cookie Policy
meeting.cash uses cookies through third-party services:
Google Analytics Cookies: Used to distinguish users, throttle request rates, and remember your interactions across sessions. These cookies collect information in anonymous form, including the number of visitors, where visitors come from, and pages visited.
Google AdSense Cookies: Used to serve advertisements and measure ad performance. AdSense may use DoubleClick cookies to serve more relevant ads across the web and limit the number of times a given ad is shown to you.
Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. However, some features of the Service may not function properly if cookies are disabled. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data and understand how users interact with meeting.cash. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect device identifiers and IP addresses. Learn more about how Google uses data at Google's Privacy & Terms.
Google AdSense: We display ads through Google AdSense to support the free service. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our site or other sites. Learn more in Google's Advertising Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.
These third-party services have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies directly.
6. Your Rights and Controls
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access and Control: All meeting data is stored locally in your browser. You can access it through browser developer tools (inspect localStorage).
- Deletion: Clear your browser's localStorage or site data to permanently delete all meeting history. We cannot recover this data.
- Opt-Out of Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or use browser privacy features to block tracking.
- Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: Visit Google's Ads Settings to disable personalized advertising.
- Cookie Management: Configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that some features may not work without cookies.
Since we don't collect or store personal information, there are no accounts to manage or personal data to request. Your meeting data is entirely under your control in your browser.
7. GDPR Compliance
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Legal Basis: We process anonymous analytics data based on legitimate interest in operating and improving our service.
- Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum data necessary for analytics and ad serving.
- No Personal Data Processing: We do not process personal data as meeting calculations stay in your browser.
- Third-Party Processors: Google Analytics and AdSense are our data processors. Google is GDPR-compliant and certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Your Rights: You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Since we don't store personal data, these primarily apply to Google's data collection.
To exercise your rights regarding Google's data collection, visit Google's Privacy Controls.
8. CCPA Compliance
For California residents, we comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Categories of Data Collected: We collect only anonymous analytics data (device information, usage patterns) through Google Analytics and AdSense.
- Purpose: Data is used solely for service improvement and ad serving.
- No Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal information. We do not have personal information to sell.
- Right to Know: You can request information about data collection, but since we don't collect personal data, requests apply to Google's collection practices.
- Right to Delete: Meeting data is stored locally and can be deleted by clearing browser data.
- Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of Google Analytics and personalized ads using the methods described above.
Since we don't create user accounts or store personal information on our servers, most CCPA rights relate to third-party data collection by Google.
9. Children's Privacy
meeting.cash is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will investigate. However, since we don't collect personal information through our service, this is unlikely.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we collect:
- HTTPS encryption for all connections to meeting.cash
- No storage of sensitive meeting data on our servers
- Regular security updates to our web infrastructure
- Trusted third-party services (Google) for analytics and ads
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Since your meeting data never leaves your browser, it's as secure as your device and browser security. We recommend using modern browsers, keeping software updated, and using device security features like passwords and encryption.
11. Data Retention
Meeting Data: Stored indefinitely in your browser's localStorage until you clear it. We don't receive this data, so we don't retain it.
Analytics Data: Google Analytics retains data for 26 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted. You can learn more in Google's Data Retention Policy.
12. International Data Transfers
Our servers and third-party services may be located outside your country of residence. By using meeting.cash, you consent to the transfer of anonymous analytics data to the United States and other countries. Google Analytics and AdSense comply with international data protection frameworks including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on our homepage or other appropriate channels. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
